News Death Notice
HOBERTY, Jack Paul age 83, of Springfield, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, January 5, 2014. He was born on August 23, 1930 to the late Clement Leroy and Bernice Agnes (Snyder) Hoberty Sr. in Urbana, Ohio. In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by 2 brothers, 3 sisters and step-son James Bowman. He is survived by wife, Velva (Crose) Hoberty; children: Michael Gene (Juanita) Hoberty, Diane (Derf) Page, Jacky (Don) Lee, and Debbie (Dave) Moore; Jack's first wife and mother of his children, Norma Jean Hoberty; Velva's children: Patricia Suttles and Joy (Roger) Dern; 2 Brothers; 4 Sisters; Grandchildren: Michael, Jay, Andrea and Justin Sherrock; Aaron, Andy and Matt Page; Rachel, David, Ben and Brianna Moore as well as Tosha and Trevor Hoberty; 17 Great-Grandchildren with 2 more on the way; Velva's 5 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Jack graduated from Lawrenceville High School in 1948 then went to serve his country in the United States Army. Throughout his life, Jack was a 4-H advisor of the New Horizon Club, a Little League Baseball Coach, Northwestern Band Club President, Northwestern School Board member as well as a Cub Scout Leader. He also was a member of the North Hampton Lions Club where he was in the bowling league; he called square dances for the VFW Post 1031 with the Mel Tones band and was the owner of Jack Hoberty & Son Construction Company. Jack retired from Navistar as a Supervisor after 23 years of dedicated service. A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 10:00-12:00 p.m. at JACKSON LYTLE & LEWIS LIFE CELEBRATION CENTER. The funeral will immediately follow at 12:00 noon with Pastor Alan Cain officiating. Entombment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
