DOOLITTLE, James Colbran age 84, of South Charleston passed away Monday, January 20, 2013 at Villa Springfield. He was born on June 10, 1929 to the late Colbran and Rachel (Morris) Doolittle in Detroit, Michigan. James graduated from Springfield South High School and then went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked at Gohl's Grocery Store in South Charleston, owned and operated Doolittle's Locksmith and retired from Southeastern Local Schools in 1997. James was an avid sports fan cheering on Ohio State, the Cincinnati Reds and the Dayton Dragons. He enjoyed bowling and ran chains at Southeastern High School football games for over 30 years. James was a member of the American Legion Post 176 in South Charleston and Fielding Masonic Lodge #192. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his sister, Grace Marie Wright. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gladys (Eutsler) Doolittle, daughter Bette Ross of Fairborn, niece Kelly Griffis of Raiford, FL, brother-in-law, John W. Wright of Green Cove Springs, FL, special friend Billy Duncan and a host of devoted friends. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at INGLING WILLIAM & LEWIS FUNERAL HOME, South Charleston. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, January 25 at 10:00 a.m. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare League, c/o Libby Bates, 701 Basswood Drive, Springfield, OH 45504.
