News Death Notice

ARLEDGE, Leo Von 95, passed away on September 22, 2013 in Essex of Springfield. He was born August 9, 1918 and raised on a farm in Pickaway County, Ohio, the son of Murray and Elizabeth (Fullen) Arledge. He was the owner operator of Leo's Barber Shop until he retired in 1980. He barbered for thirty-two years. He was married to Hanna Jaunita (Reay) Arledge for seventy-four years and had four children. He was an instructor at Curtiss-Wright Aircraft Manufacturer until he was called to duty in the U.S. Army and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He did woodworking and saw sharpening. He is survived by four children, Patricia Saunders, Melvin (Linda) Arledge, and Deborah Arledge, all of Springfield, and Robert (Mary) Arledge of Marion, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Tim (Sylvia), Chris, Mike (Tami), and Brian (Lauren) Arledge, Christi Wells, Lisa (Scott) Carnes, and John (Darla) and Doug Saunders; fifteen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Hanna Jaunita Arledge, his parents and two brothers Clyde and Paul Arledge. The family would like to thank all the nurses, aides and staff for their loving care and support during his stay at Essex of Springfield. A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday September 26, 2013 with Pastor Bernard Cook officiating.
