News Death Notice

HAYLOCK, Stewart A. 75, of Springfield, passed away Thursday morning, December 13, 2012 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born in Clinton, Iowa on October 12, 1937, the son of the late Albert S. and Irene (Beeck) Haylock. He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves. Stew was a graduate of the University of Iowa, receiving both his Bachelor's and law degrees. He was a corporate insurance attorney having worked for Household Finance, Chicago and Credit Life Insurance, Springfield. Prior to his retirement, Stew was a legal consultant to insurance companies. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was active in a variety of church ministries. In his early life, he was an avid bowler, golfer and skier. He had a long-time passion for sailing and for the "Salty Dog," which has had a permanent dock at the family residence. Stew also enjoyed singing with the Xenia Barbershop Chorus. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia (Hauger) Haylock; four children, Matthew (Kristie) Haylock of Lindenhurst, Illinois, Natalie (Jeff) LaRoe of Tipton, Michigan, Brock (Lisa) Haylock of Lippo Karawaci, Indonesia, and Angela Haylock of Springfield; nine grandchildren, Randall, Lauren and Ellis Haylock, Jeffrey, Noah, Anna, Aaron, and Jaden LaRoe, and Bethany Haylock; two great grandchildren, Marcus and Dakota; a brother, Theodore (Dorothy) Haylock of Morris, Illinois; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church. Stew's funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Daniel M. Powell officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church Growing Grace Building Fund or for church mission projects, 1801 St. Paris Pike, Springfield, OH 45504.
