News Death Notice

VAIL, W. Brooks 88, of Springfield, died prematurely as his predetermined death was not to occur until 2025 with his adoring family at his side. He was born September 21, 1924 in Canton, Minnesota, the son of Dr. F. L. and Anna L. (Milne) Vail. He was employed by Sears Automotive and Appliance Sales for twenty years, Springfield Laundry and was owner of the Texaco Service Station. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1942. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during WWII in Guadalcanal and Bougainville in the South Pacific. Survivors include his son Garry Brooks Vail; daughter, Mrs. Gary M. (Claudia Jo) Stanley; grandchildren, Jason M. (Marisa) Stanley, Brandi J. (Tony) Davis, Kele (Nichole) Stanley and six great-grandchildren, Olivia Rilan, Acea-Lyn Marie, Hunter Michael, Toni Rae, Parker Vail and Ella Jo; also life-long friend Kathleen Spray and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister and brother-in-law, Shirley (Steven) Grimes. A celebration of life with family and friends will be held Saturday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. You may express condolences to the family at www.littletonandrue.com
