News Death Notice

DUNLAP, William E. "Bill" Long time Springfield resident and educator passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013. He was 87. Beloved husband of Alyce Dunlap and the late Joan Dunlap. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio to Clinton and Estella Dunlap. In addition to his wife Alyce, survivors include his children Gayle (the late Steve) Harris, Denise (Bill) Monigold, David (Tim Hartley) Dunlap. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Cara (Mike) Shebak, Mindy (Matt) Elden, Elizabeth and Bryan Monigold. He is also survived by his six step-children; seven great grandchildren; thirteen step grand children; two great step grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Dunlap served in the Army and graduated from Cedarville College. He had long education career in Northeastern Local and Springfield City Schools as a math teacher, high school athletic director, high school baseball coach, junior high school principal and driver's education teacher. He was also a long time traffic school teacher for Clark County Traffic Safety Council. He loved sports and was an avid baseball and softball player. He was active in an old-timers league well into his 70s. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church or Miami Valley Chapter . A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 10:00 am at Rose Hill Burial Park with Pastor Merrill Mellott Jr. officiating.
