John M. Fisher, age 96 of St. Augustine died July 18, 2014, at the Bailey Family Center for Caring. He was born in New York City. He served as a New York City Police Officer for over 25 years and later became a life insurance agent. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. He was a veteran of World War II, he joined the U.S. Army seven months before Pearl Harbor and was initially assigned as a cavalryman at Fort Riley, Kansas.
He later served as a bombardier in 14 Êbombing raids during the war in Germany.Ê
Memorial services will be held later at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum in Georgia.Ê
He is survived by his wife Shirley. Children: Kathleen Poling (Jeffrey), Marianne Fisher (Eric), Suzanne Davis (Robert) and Kenneth J. Fisher. Grandchildren: Matthew and Sean Poling and Kayla Dorothy Fisher-Poling, and Nathan Dorante. Great grandchildren: Ciara and Lauryn Scarlett.
