John Thomas Holley, 83, passed away quietly on Oct. 29, 2012, in Yuba City, Calif., after a long illness.
Born in St. Augustine, Fla., to the late Flora and John T. Holley Sr., he graduated from Excelsior High School Class of 1947. He attended Florida A& M University, received his bachelor of science degree from Minot State University, Minot, N.D., and master of arts degree in education from La Verne University, La Verne, Calif., served 23 years in the U.S. Air Force as a nuclear weapons specialist superintendent and retired from teaching as the chair of the science department at Bear River Junior High School, in Wheatland, Calif., after 28 years.
Survived by his loving wife, Evelyn; daughters, Dedra, Tyrena, La Trice, Carlotta and Valerie; son, Christopher (Kellie); four grandchildren, Jean-Vincent, Taylor, Christopher Jr., Kamyrn; two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Trey; one brother, Joe Holley (Roccella), Miami, Fla.; two sisters preceded him in death, Lois Chatwell and Gladys Campbell; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He will always be loved, cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
Funeral arrangement entrusted to Ullrey Memorial Chapel, Yuba City, Calif. Services will be held at Crossroads Community Church at 10 a.m. Nov. 7, 2012.
