Dr. Joseph Michael Fell, 93, of St. Augustine, passed away on Aug. 22, 2013, at the Bailey Center for Caring, surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Kingston, Pa., the youngest of five boys, Dr. Fell was a graduate of Michigan State University with degrees in Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture. From 1960 to 1980, he owned and operated the Animal and Bird Hospital in Morristown, N.J. Dr. Fell also served as President of the New Jersey Veterinary Association, as well as the Metropolitan N.J. Veterinary Medical Association. Upon his retirement, he relocated to Treasure Beach in St. Augustine, where he served as President of the Treasure Beach Property Owners Association. Dr. Fell will especially be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Fell, of Treasure Beach; a daughter, Joy Carpenter of St. Cloud, Fla.; sons, Dr. Dale Fell, and his wife, Barbara, of Fairview, N.C., and Wayne Fell, and his wife, Susan, of Atlanta, Ga.; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home, with his son, Wayne Fell, officiating. A visitation, beginning at 10 a.m., will precede the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dr. Fell"s memory may be made to either St. Johns Ecumenical Food Pantry, 12 Madeore St., St. Augustine, FL 32084, or to the Homeless Coalition of St. Johns, 62 Chapin St., St. Augustine, FL 32084.
