Margie Jones, 82, of Wellington, Fla., passed peacefully July 3, 2014, with her loving family by her side. Before moving to Wellington, she resided for many years in Saint Augustine, Fla., with her husband James A. Jones Sr.

Born in Gregory, Ark., on Sept. 16, 1931, Margie relocated at a young age to Florida. She was a graduate of Desoto High School in Arcadia, Fla. Making a career change after several years of retail experience, she worked her way into a cafeteria management position for the St. Johns County school system, retiring after many dedicated years of service. She was a Charter life member of the VFW auxiliary post in St. Augustine, serving in various positions throughout her membership.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James A. Jones Sr.; son, Bruce Anthony (Tony) Jones; four sisters, Lucille, Val, Lorraine, Beth and three brothers, Slim, Buck, and Donald.

She is survived by her sister, Gena McCall, of Bradenton, Fla.; daughters, Kathy Hernicz, Wellington, Nancy Jackson, St. Augustine, Carolyn Whitecloud, Middleburg, Fla.; stepson, James (Jim) A Jones Jr., Bradenton, and stepdaughters, Phyllis Presnell, Jacksonville, Fla., and Sandi Spurlock, Acworth, Ga. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

In her honor, a memorial service will be held at Craig Funeral Home in St. Augustine, 11:30 a.m. on July 17, 2014. She will be reunited with her husband with a private interment at 11:30 a.m. July 18, 2014, at Jacksonville National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request charitable donations be made to the Ladies Auxiliary of Foreign Wars (LAFV) Post 7909, 6204 Blanding Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32244.
