Richard Edwards Johnston, 89, passed away at his home on April 2, 2013.

Richard was born and raised in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He served in the Army Air Corps in the CBI during World War II. Following the War, he earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Iowa. Richard relocated and worked for the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce. He then began a 20-year career with FCCJ, retiring as director of Vocational Education in 1994.

Since retiring, Richard thoroughly enjoyed traveling, sailing on his sailboat and lounging at the beach.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Juana Dixon Graham Johnston; sons, Dr. Stephen (Kathy) Johnston, Brad Johnston; four daughters, Jan Johnston, Jodi Johnston, Sue (Dan) Roberts, Sara (Thomas) Gallagher; step-sons, Joseph D. (Trina) Graham, Rhian H. (Angela) Graham; brother, Stanley (Flo) Johnston; 17 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. His granddaughter, Kelsey Kite, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Craig Funeral Home in St. Augustine. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Christ the King Anglican Church followed by burial at Craig Memorial Park with military honors.

Flowers are graciously accepted or a memorial donation to Community Hospice of NE Florida would be appreciated.
