Ferrari, Ernest
Ernest Francis Ferrari of Westport, Ct. died peacefully on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 from complications caused by a fall. He was born in 1925 to Louisa and Natale Ferrari in Bridgeport. He graduated from Central High School in 1943. He immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he was trained as a radio engineer. Subsequently, he was deployed to the South Pacific where he decoded and sent military orders for the duration of World War II. Later he attended the University of Bridgeport, earning a Bachelor Degree. He had a life-long passion for music that led to a 52-year career as a recording industry executive. He began his career with Columbia Records, participating in many developments in the music industry while based at the firm's Bridgeport and New York City divisions. Through out his career, he held vice president and senior management positions at the Phillips Recording Company, Arista Records, the Bertelsmann Group and RCA. His greatest joy was his family. Mr. Ferrari's interests were sports, golf, the UConn Girls Basketball team. reading, crossword puzzles, and repairing mechanical objects. He was a member of the former Rector's Athletic Association of Bridgeport, the Old Timers of Bridgeport., Cotillion Club of Westport, Y's Men of Westport/Weston, Minuteman Yacht Club of Westport and the Longshore Men's Golf Association. Mr. Ferrari was predeceased by four sisters and one brother. He is survived by his wife Virginia, his sons Ernest Jr. and Glen, his daughter Jill Rosen and her husband Bruce Rosen as well as two grandchildren Allison and Grant Rosen, his brother Joseph Ferrari, sister Gloria Monaco, her husband Ralph, and sister in law Gloria Plotkin. He also leaves behind more than 45 nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and many long-time close friends. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 11 AM in St. Luke's Church, 49 Turkey Hill Lane, Westport, CT 06880. Friends may call on Friday, June 21, 2013 from 4-7 PM in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 S Benson Rd., Fairfield. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mr. Ferrari's memory to the charity of ones choice.
