Phyllis Orlow passed away peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 2, 2014, after a brief illness. A holocaust survivor, Phyllis was born on August 1, 1924 in Lodz, Poland, the daughter of Emmanuel and Mala Branicki. She was liberated in 1945 in Germany where she met her husband, Jack Orlow, who predeceased her. They came to the United States in 1949 and settled in New York. Phyllis enjoyed spending summers with her friends and family in the Catskill Mountains. She was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society, enjoyed playing mahjong, cards and traveling. She was a dedicated wife and mother and loved more than anything else to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Dr. Harold Orlow and wife, Eileen of Stamford, CT., and by her daughter, Marilyn Hochberger McGee and husband Larry of Fort Worth, Texas. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jason Orlow, Alyssa Orlow, Amy Hochberger, Dr. Sari Bar and husband, Mickey; and sister, Rose Brewster and husband, Henry of Bayside, NY; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
