Walter Rowe, beloved husband of Joan "Dragon Lady" Rowe, went to heaven on July 28, 2014. Walter was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of VFW Post 6933 of Noroton. Throughout all of his working life, he was a Master Carpenter and was a member of Local 210. Walter was also a devoted crossing guard for 25 years at the corner of Hoyt and Morgan Streets. Thanks to all of his friends, especially those from Lakeside Diner and Sal Dumont Auto for their friendship and kindness over the years. In addition to Joan, his devoted wife of 30 years, Walter is survived by his children, Catherine Reed and her husband Brent and Janet Eilertsen and her husband Herb, all of PA, Tim Maxwell and his wife Barbara of Old Greenwich, Bonnie Pomponi and her husband Jeff of Norwalk; nine grandchildren, Rebecca, Mackenzie, Evan, Nathan, Daniel, Michelle, Lisa, Maxwell and Jake; and a great grandson Caleb. He was predeceased by two brothers, James and William Rowe. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, August 2, at 11 am at the Church of St. John, 1986 Post Rd., in Darien. Committal will be private. Contributions may be made in Walter's memory to the . Arrangements are in the care of County Cremation Service, 36 South Pine Creek Road, Fairfield.
