Floyd Adam Williams Obituary

Age 96 of Elmira, NY, born in Elmira to William and Margaret (Corwin) Williams, passed away on Wednesday June 26, 2013. There will be no calling hours. Private interment of both Floyd and his wife Jacquelyn, of 69 years, will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery Elmira with full military honors accorded for both of them on July 3. Rev. Susan Husted officiating. Floyd is survived by sons Jay (Linda) Williams of Snellville, GA, John (Megan) Williams of Wilmington, NC and daughter Janice Williams of Elmira; granddaughter Marnie O'Dea (John) Malone; grandsons Garrett (Sara) Williams and Derek Williams; great granddaughters Delaney O'Dea Malone and McKenna Feeney Malone. He was a member of the Elmira Kiwanis Club serving as Secretary (Distinguished) for 24 years and Treasurer for 39 years. Floyd received the highest Kiwanis International award, the George F. Hixson Fellowship. To honor Floyd, each year a High School Senior receives the "Floyd Williams" Kiwanis Foundation Scholarship and the dinosaur examination table in the pediatrics unit at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center is named "Floyd". A veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WW ll in Iceland and Europe retiring with the rank of Major and 21 years in the U.S. Army Reserves. Floyd retired as Vice President from Elmira Savings Bank and for many years was a Tax Instructor and Counselor for AARP. Those wishing may make donations to Elmira Kiwanis Club Foundation, P.O.
