Dilmore, Harold K. "Bud"
Harold K. "Bud" Dilmore, age 81, of Horseheads, NY, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY. He was born in Pine Valley, NY to Robert and the Pauline (Farr) Dilmore. He married Joyce R. Rodabaugh on New Year's Eve in 1956. They spent 45 years together until Joyce's passing on January 8, 2000. Harold enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country in Gaum. He later founded his own construction company, Dilmore Custom Home Builders in Big Flats which he operated for 42 years. He was well known for the quality craftsmanship that went into every house he built. Bud, as he was called, was an avid hunter who traveled extensively in search of big game trophies. He traveled multiple times to Newfoundland and Canada where he harvested an award winning black bear. He also held several NYS archery awards. He is survived by three sons: Russ Dilmore of Horseheads, Rex (Mary McLaughlin) Dilmore of Elmira, Shane Dilmore of Elmira Heights; three sisters: Sharon (Jim) Hartman of Lebanon, PA, Gail (Milt) Bowdy of Hamburg, PA, Sylvia (Donald) Osborne of Winter Springs; one brother: Robert (Sheila) Dilmore of Big Flats; three grandchildren: Mathew (Kimberly) Dilmore of Horseheads, Branden Dilmore of Casselberry, FL, Devan Dilmore of Big Flats; great-grandchild: Elliot Dilmore; and special friend, Arlene of Horseheads, NY. Family and friends are invited to come to Carpenter's Funeral Home LLC, 14 E. Pulteney St. in Corning on Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM to share fond memories of Bud.
