Mr. John J. Botti, 92, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at home. A Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish, formerly St. Mary's R.C. Church, 240 Central Ave., Rahway, N.J. Family will greet guests from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lehrer-Gibilisco Funeral Home, 275 West Milton Ave., Rahway. He was born in Rahway and was a lifelong resident of Rahway. Mr. Botti was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, serving in the 313th Engineer C Battalion. He received the Purple Heart. Mr. Botti was a safety director for Penn Central Railroad in New York for 35 years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Rahway Retired Men's Club, a communicant of St. Mary's R.C. Church, and an usher of the church for many years. John was an avid golfer, loved playing cards, and enjoyed dancing. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, and will be missed by all. Mr. Botti was predeceased by his mother and father, Ralph and Sadie Botti. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann and her husband, Patrick Murray; a son, John J. and his wife, Donna Botti; a sister, Genevieve Russo; two grandchildren, Angela and her husband, Joseph, and Matthew and his wife, Susan; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Luke; also survived by his close friend and companion of many years, Virginia Trembley.
