DWIGHT NORMAN JEFFERS Dwight Norman Jeffers, 90, of Wilmington, NC passed away peacefully Saturday, May 31, 2014 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Dwight was born on January 30, 1924 in Cleveland County to the late Ambrose James Jeffers and Margaret Norman Jeffers. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Warren and John. Dwight served proudly in the United States Army during WWII. He taught high school and coached girls' basketball before joining Southern Bell where he worked until his retirement as district marketing manager. He was a long-time member at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, an avid golfer, and a member at Pine Valley Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Jerry Jeffers; Son, Bobby Jeffers (wife, Candace) of Castle Hayne; daughter, Becky Sherrod (husband, Marty) of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Davey, Matt, Quentin, Harrison, Leah, and McKinley; great grandchildren, Rustyn and Kendra. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 ay 11:00 am at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (10:00-11:00 am), also at the church. Burial will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens. Coble Ward-Smith, Oleander Chapel, is honored to service the Jeffers family.
