GEORGE ROBERT BROOKSHIRE Mr. George Robert Brookshire, age 64, of Florida City, Florida passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013. Mr. Brookshire was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on April 29, 1949, son of the late Harold and Reba Brookshire. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Brookshire was employed at Carolina Power and Light for over 25 years until he moved to Florida. While in Florida, he worked for Florida Power and Light. Survivors include his loving wife Elaine Yow Brookshire; two sons, Mike Holcomb and wife Beverly and Mickey Holcomb and fiancé Jackie Green; two daughters, LuAnn Barwick and husband Allan and Michelle Holcomb; 10 grandchildren, Brian Holcomb, Brooke Holcomb, Joshua Holcomb, Joshua Green, Jordan Green, Lacey Green, Samantha Stiller, Nicholas Stiller, Ashley Papandrew, and Allison Papandrew; and 2 great grandchildren, Hailey Holcomb and Ryder Norwood. Mr. Brookshire is also survived by his extended family, Pat Millis, Kendall and Sharon McCarter, Shannon and Jake Smith, Kendra McCarter and fiancé Brad Hensley, and a long time friend Cecil Franck. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, December 23, 2013 at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Service Chapel with Reverend Charles Drew officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cape Fear Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Michael Holcomb, Mickey Holcomb, Cecil Franck, Billy Smart, O.G. Markham, Donald Johnson, and David Watts. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas Stiller, Joshua Holcomb, and Brian Holcomb. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, Community Hospice Foundation, 117 Village Rd NE # E, Leland, NC 28451.
