JOYCE ESTELLE HALL WILLIAMS Joyce Estelle Hall Williams passed from this life into the eternal promise of her Savior on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, having been born in Wilmington, NC, November 7, 1927 to her parents, George Malcolm and Estelle Carroll Hall. She was 86 years old. In her later years Mama Joyce fought courageously against many life threatening illnesses, not the least of which was her long battle with Alzheimer's Disease, before she finally succumbed in the compassionate care of the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Life Care Center of Wilmington. Joyce was proudly the daughter, the wife and the mother of three generations of career City of Wilmington firefighters, and was always quick to tell people of that proud family heritage. She came to know many people and friends through her employment for many years with Saunders Drug Company and Professional Pharmacy and through the A.B.W.A. (American Business Women's Association). In 1978, she began a personal relationship with her Savior, Jesus Christ, was baptized and became a member of her beloved Calvary Baptist Church, where she served tirelessly and was a member of the Y.A.H. (Young At Heart) Choir. Mrs. Williams married the love of her life, Edgar Earl Williams Sr. on November 27, 1952, and they remained best friends and constant companions in love and in life until his death on July 11, 1993. She is survived by her son, Edgar Earl Williams Jr. (Eddie) and his wife, Barbara Williams of Wilmington, her grand-daughter, Sarrah Caroline Williams, her three beloved bonus-grandchildren, Michael Allen Reynolds, Crystal Nicole Reynolds, and Selina Lynn Tanner, nine great-grand children and a host of family and precious friends. Funeral arrangements are being handled presently by the family. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Calvary Baptist Church, located at 423 N. 23rd Street, Wilmington, NC. In lieu of flowers, Joyce's family is requesting that memorial donations be made in her name to the Eastern North Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association and/or to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCareCenter of Wilmington, NC.
