MICHAEL WANET BLAKE Michael Wanet Blake, passed away May 25, 2013, peacefully in his sleep at the age of 61. Michael was a life-long resident of Wilmington and Riegelwood, NC. He enjoyed the great outdoors, fishing and hunting with family and friends. His greatest love was family. He was a member of Castle Hayne Baptist Church and enjoyed a real relationship with Jesus, his personal savior. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He had a strong belief in his country and was proud to be able to serve. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Neil Wesley Blake, Sr. and Frances Russell Blake, and a great-grandchild, Cirra Brooke Thomas. Michael is survived by his wife, Peggy Ann Meares Blake, his five brothers, seven children, twenty-one grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 27, 2013, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Castle Hayne Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Billy Fowler, Rev. George Potter, and Rev. Frank Meares. Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.andrewsmortuary.com.
