NORMAN W. TORGERSEN, LT COL-USAF-RETIRED Mr. Torgersen passed way September 14th at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. He was born September 3, 1924 in Malden, MA to Astriel and Trygve Torgersen. He served during WWII in the US Army's Mountain Division (Ski Troops) and retired from the Air Force as a Wing Personnel Officer. Mr. Torgersen was a graduate of Northwestern University in Boston, MA. He was employed By Sticking & Poor Spice Co. in Boston as Vice-President and Treasurer. He retired from Olen Corporation, Speciality Chemicals Group in Norwalk, CT as a Technical Representative. Mr. Torgersen moved to Belvedere Plantation in Hampstead, NC in 1989. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsa Setterquist Torgersen and a sister Helen Jakobsen. He is survived by a sister Mildred Torgersen Christie of Lynn, MA and his long time companion, Wilma Cobb of Hampstead. Mr. Torgersen was a member of Hampstead United Methodist Church, St John's Lodge #1 AF & AM, Wilmington York Rite Bodies, Sudan Shriners, National Sojourners, Heroes of '76, OES, Areme Chapter #372, American Legion Post 167, Hampstead, NC and Belvedere Men's Golf Association. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 19th at 11:00am at Hampstead United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Maynard officiating.
