OAKLEY LAMONTE HOPKINS, JR. Oakley Lamonte Hopkins, Jr., affectionately known as "Bud", was called home to his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 21, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Brenda J. Hopkins of the home; and three sons. Eldest son, Oakley "Buddy" Hopkins, III and his wife Gina reside in Clayton, NC along with grandsons Austin Hopkins and Nolan Hopkins. Son Guy Stephen Hopkins, Sr. and wife Ashley live in Watha, NC with grandson Guy Stephen Hopkins, Jr. and granddaughters Christina Paige Hopkins and Stephanie Lynn Hopkins. Youngest son James Edward Hopkins and his wife Mary live in Currie, NC. He is also survived by his younger brother Ed Hopkins; nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his mother Birdie Hopkins and father Oakie Hopkins and sister Kate Syphrit of Pennsylvania. Bud served his country in the US Marine Corps. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post #5958 in Titusville, PA and a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved to play his guitar and sing, especially at Brunswick Cove, where he attended church services. Family and friends were most important in his life, and he will be eternally missed. Rather than a funeral service, Andrews Mortuary is cremating his body as his spirit has gone home. A Celebration of His Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Outreach Ministries of the First Baptist Church in Leland, NC. He left shoes that can't be filled.
