Borrud, Chester Carlyle MD Age 90, of Andover, MN. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, died peacefully in his sleep on the evening of February 22, 2013. Born in Williston, ND on May 10, 1922, to Hjalmar and Alice Borrud, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Loretta (Sheik) Borrud, his parents, and brothers Reuben and Albert Borrud. He will be deeply missed by daughters Dr. Lori G. Borrud (Neil Gamson), Dr. Aleta A. Borrud (Dr. James Findlay) and Rebecca L. Borrud (Denis Houle); grandchildren Nathan Gamson, Hannah and Alex Findlay, and Anton and Dmitri Houle; sister-in-law Mrs. Mary Borrud. Dr. Borrud served honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII before attending the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He then proceeded to medical school, with his first two years at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, and his final two years at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA. He returned to complete residency in internal medicine in Minneapolis and Grand Forks before becoming a co-founder of the Harmon Park Clinic in Williston, ND where he resided and raised his family until relocating to Anoka, MN. He was a founding member of the American Academy of Family Practice, in the new specialty of family practice, serving patients in the East Main Clinic of Anoka and Mercy Medical Center, Coon Rapids, until his retirement in the early 1990's. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka including membership on the church council and the Kiwanis Club. He was an avid gardener, landscaper, remodeler and tinkerer, as well as a restorer of antique clocks and furniture. Burial was at Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis in a private ceremony on March 1, 2013. Memorial Service will be on at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1601 - 4th Avenue, Anoka (763-421-4656), with visitation starting @ 9AM.
