Schlee, Durwood J. "Woody" Age 89, passed away on Sept. 4, 2013. A long- time resident of Robbinsdale. Graduated from Minneapolis North High class of '43. Following graduation, Woody was inducted into the Marine Corps during WWII. He served three tours of duty in the Pacific Theater. Woody returned home and attended the University of Minnesota, College of Mechanical Engineering. On April 23, 1949, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia. They designed and built their dream home on the shores of Crystal Lake. One of his joys in life was coaching youth baseball; he led the Robbinsdale Red Sox and a Mickey Mantle team to multiple championships. Preceded in death by parents, Gilbert and Genevieve; brother, DuWayne. father- and mother-in-law, Allen and Lydia McKay; brothers-in-law, Robert Hanson, Joseph Proulx and Stephen McKay. Survived by loving wife of 64 years, Patricia (McKay); son, Gregory; daughter, Linda (Schlee) Strater; grandsons, Brent, Robert and Patrick Strater. Also survived by Gloria McKay, Barbara Proulx, Mary Ann McKay, Maureen (Mike) Fitzgerald, Martha Hanson, Ione Schlee and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the caring staff of North Ridge Care Center, New Hope. Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 AM Tuesday, September 10 at Ascension Catholic Church, 1723 Bryant Ave. N., Mpls. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery, Mpls. with luncheon to follow at the church. Visitation Monday 5-8 PM with Rosary at 5:30 PM at Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel, 3888 West Broadway, Robbinsdale, and one hour prior to the service at church.
