O'Brien, Joseph (1918-2012) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away on November 28th, 2012. Preceded in death by Fern O'Brien (nee Kruger) his loving wife of 59 years; parents, Thomas and Mary O'Brien; brothers, Thomas Edward ("Corky") and James, and sister, Bernadette. He is survived by his daughter, Irene Poquette (Michael), sons Joseph and Patrick; daughter, Kathleen Casey (William), and daughter in law Colleen; 9 grandchildren; sisters, Mary Rose Anderson, Cecelia Sokalski, Catherine Damm,; brother, Vincent and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Joseph was a veteran of World War 2 serving in the U.S. Army in the pacific. After the war he graduated from the University of Minnesota and William Mitchell College of Law. He practiced law in Minneapolis for more than 40 years and was a founding member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He will be deeply missed, but will be remembered for his a sharp wit, grace, charm and love of his family. Visitation Thursday 4-7 p.m. at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 5801 Lyndale Ave. So., Mass of Christian Burial Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church, 509 West 54th St., Mpls., with visitation one hour before mass.
