McNally, Kyungshin Park A devoted mother and dedicated social worker, died at home in Edina on Wednesday, February 27, after a 15-month battle with cancer. Shinny, as her many friends knew her, was born in Korea on March 16, 1964. She came to the United States in the mid-1980s to study at Aurora University in Illinois, arriving alone and essentially speaking no English. It was testament to her determined nature. She eventually received an AM in Social Work from the University of Chicago. In 1993, she was recruited by Hennepin County to be a child protection social worker. While unabashedly Korean, Shinny embraced her adopted country, proudly considering herself an evolved woman. She had an appreciation for the small and lovable creatures that inhabit the earth. And she was a person of deep faith, which gives comfort to her family and friends. She is survived by her beloved daughter Oonagh at home, her parents Young Suk Park and Joongsim Kim and her sisters Eunshin Park and Hyoshin Park, all of Korea, and her brother Sung Park of Malaysia. She is also survived by her former husband Patrick McNally, her caregiver and friend. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 2, at the Korean United Methodist Church of Minnesota, 701 8th Ave. NW, New Brighton, MN. www.Washburn-McReavy.com Edina Chapel 952-920-3996
