Opie, Lilias Leone Werner age 98, died peacefully in her sleep at home on June 22, 2013. Born to the late Otto and Hattie Peipus Werner on June 12, 1915 in Litchfield, MN, she was preceded in death by three brothers, and her husband of 61 years, Joseph W. Opie. She is survived by beloved daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Reginald Washington of Golden Valley with whom she made her home, sons Frederic Opie (Melanie Spewock) of Minneapolis, and Joseph Opie (Pamela) of McKenzie, TN, and granddaughter Erin Opie of Dallas. She attended St. Olaf College and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1936 with a bachelor's degree in medical technology. A talented painter and calligrapher, she had a lifelong interest in fine arts and a deep appreciation for beauty in the natural world. At her request, there will be no service. Private interment in Lakewood Cemetery.
