Sharp, Richard L. age 89 of Coon Rapids, died July 21, 2013. Born in Sioux City, IA on March 6, 1924 to Ray and Lela Sharp. Preceded in death by parents, wife, Helen (Labrie) Sharp; brothers, Leslie and Norman both of Sioux City. Survived by loving wife, Betty; son, James of Coon Rapids; daughter, Mary Kay of Dallas, TX; sister, Virginia Mackey of Santee, NE; brothers, David (Carol) of Sioux City and Larry (Linda) of Owasso, MI; many nieces, nephews and friends. Richard moved to Minnesota in 1955 and was employed as a Railway Mail Clerk on several railroads out of Minneapolis. He later became a supervisor in the Robbinsdale Post Office, retiring in 1979. He lived in Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park. In 2002 he married Betty Karlsgodt and moved to Realife in Coon Rapids. He served in the south pacific and Japan during WWII. Member of VFW, American Legion, NAREE and K of C Crystal. He belonged to several metro area golf leagues, enjoyed reading, walking and his many winter golf vacations. Special Thank You to Coon Rapids Oncology, Dr. K., Lana and the oncology nurses, Allina Home Health Care nurses, Stacie and Ginger and Allina Hospice nurses Jackie and Sue for the excellent care and support during his 3 year fight with cancer. Per Dicks request, private services will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brooklyn Center with Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
