Barbara Zoubek Yeakel Barbara Zoubek Yeakel passed away peacefully on November 10, 2012 in St. Paul, MN at the age of 91. Preceded in death by parents Reverend Frank and Margaret Zoubek, former husband Earl L. Yeakel, Jr of Austin, Texas; brothers Frank Wadsworth Zoubek, Charles Merrill Zoubek and fraternal twin Philip Atwater Zoubek of St. Paul, Minnesota. Born in Faribault, Minnesota on August 8, 1921, Barbara Z Yeakel grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was a graduate of Oak Hall girl's school on Holly Lane in St. Paul and later attended the University of Minnesota. She graduated with a Nursing degree in 1944 and joined the military in 1945. She was a member of the WWII Cadet Nursing Corps and served her country in Korea as a First Lieutenant. One of her favorite stories she shared was about riding out a typhoon on the maiden voyage of the hospital ship The Repose in 1945 on the way to Okinawa. A founding member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Austin, TX she lived in Austin from the early 1950's to the 1970's with her husband Earl and spent those years raising children and serving in the community. After moving to St. Paul, MN, in 1972, she re-established old ties and for many years attended St. Christophers Episcopal Church in Roseville, MN. She is Survived by her children: Margaret Yeakel-Twum, of Shoreview, Minnesota; Barbara Coe, of Plano, Texas; Philip Yeakel (Linda) of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; and Peter Yeakel (Leila Bussman), of Mazeppa, Minnesota; stepson Lee Yeakel (Anne) of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Vanessa Yeakel, Max Twum, KC and Katie Coe, Brian, John, Eric, Mark and Lana Yeakel, great grandson Xavier Yeakel and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.
