Carl Edward York, 70, of Austin, TX passed away on September 19, 2013. Carl was born on July 29, 1943. He was the son of Milliard B. York and Gladys McBride York of York Township, Darke County, OH. Their farm was located along Elijah York Rd. Carl was a farmer when he met and later married his beloved Carolyn Ressler on March 4, 1962. Together they lived in the 2nd M. York family farmhouse until they bought their own farm. Together they raised hogs, and later Jersey milk cows and Welsh mountain ponies along with crops. They attended Congregational Christian Church.
In 1970, Carl moved his family to the great state of Texas via Monaco Wagon. He was the youth director and served on the board at Grace United Methodist Church in Copperas Cove, TX. He worked as a heavy duty truck mechanic at International Harvester. In September 1973, the family moved to Austin, TX, where he continued to repair trucks. Carl started his business, York's Truck & Trailer in 1984. Carl served on the board at Community Church. Carl was very devoted to Revival For Our Day Ministries out of Parker City, IN., with Reverend Loran Helm. Carl traveled with their group to Israel six times. He served as a volunteer fire fighter in OH, Copperas Cove, TX and South Austin, TX.
Carl is survived by his wife Carolyn of 51 years; his children, Chesta Renken (Billy Renken), Carl LaVon York, Camilla Kistler; grandchildren, Amanda (Juston), Justin, William (Ashley), Carlina, John, Kyle, Luke, Hannah and Isaac; great grandchild, Alyssa; brother, Gale York of OH.
A memorial service will be held on Sat., Oct. 12th at 5 PM at Faith Builders Worship Center, 17020 S. IH35, Buda, TX.
