Carol Julia Baumgartner Petersen was born in St Paul, Mn to Wilmar and Florence Huebscher Baumgartner on July15, 1950. She grew up on the east side of St. Paul in the house her father built until graduating from the University of Minnesota. Her entire professional life was as an underwriter. First at Western Life in St. Paul. She married Kurt Petersen on November 15, 1986 at Hope Lutheran Church in St. Paul, where she had been a lifetime member, then moved to join him in Irving, TX where she continued her underwriting career. Kurt and Carol moved to Austin with 3M Company in 1988 and she found her work as underwriter with New York Life insurance in the Long Term Care group.

Long term hobbies were - Travel - several trips to Europe, The Holy land, and Egypt with Hope Lutheran before marriage, and after getting married, Several Choral festivals with Kurt to England (2), Scotland, Ireland, New York, Oregon, and Minneapolis. She loved to sing in her Church and community choirs, and was very skilled at many forms of needlework and beading. A cruse and land excursion to Alaska was also a highlight.

After retirement in August 2013 Kurt and Carol planned several trips, and completed the first one with a cruse and visit to Hawaii in September.

One of her great loves was the fellowship and service of the Prayer Shawl group at Shepherd of the Hills as well as the Womens study group, SOTH Sisters. Please direct any Memorials to Shepherd of the Hills for those causes or to the .

Her life was taken suddenly, at home, on Friday March 14, 2014 after a long fight with cancer that was thought to be under control, if not pleasant.

We, her Family and Friends alike, will remember with awe and affection, her loving and gentile spirit along with her deep faith in God. She truly showed the love of God to all whom she came in contact.

She is survived by her husband Kurt and stepdaughters Tanya (Tom) Goalin and Beth (Jeff) Liesch, step granddaughter Alexis (Chris) Brannon, great grandson Blake Brannon of Wisconsin Rapids WI, stepgrandson Sean Petersen of St Paul, MN, brothers Alan (Julie) Baumgartner of Minneapolis, MN and Gary (Loni) Baumgartner of Vadnais Heights, MN. She is also survived by nephew Todd (Jodi) Baumgartner and niece Jill (Michael) Padden and grand niece Jenna Baumgartner and grand nephews Andrew Baumgartner and Connor Padden

A private cremation is planned this week. A memorial service to celebrate her life is planned for Saturday March 22, at 10:30 am. It will be held in the home of our Austin family, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 3525 Bee Caves Road Austin, TX. A light lunch will follow.

A second service is planned in her East St. Paul MN, home Church - Hope Lutheran later this spring. This Church was a strong foundation for her early life and our Marriage.
