Cater Harry Joseph, 83, passed away October 16, 2013. He was born September 1, 1930 in Old Seton Infirmary and lived his entire life in Austin, Texas.
He was the beloved first grandson of Lebanese immigrants Cater and Nora Joseph, and the son of Harry Paul Joseph and Helen Lewis Joseph pioneer Austin family. Cater attended school at St Austin's Elementary and graduated St Edward's High School and the University of Notre Dame.
He was a successful businessman, entrepreneur and real estate investor. He and his father owned Centennial Liquor and he established Austin's first import business.
He is survived by his wife Laura Mings Joseph, his daughters Simone Joseph Rainey Stark, Lora Allison Williams Piatak, Mary Catherine Fitzgerald Williams, his sister Carola Joseph Gaddis, his grandchildren Clifton Michael Rainey, Jamie Nicole Rainey, Haley Martha Piatak. He is also survived by his uncle Nassif George Lewis of Wheeling, West Virginia and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and countless lifelong friends.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening, on Friday, the 18th of October 2013, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. A Rosary will be recited at seven o'clock that evening.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at twelve o'clock in the afternoon by Father George Joseph on Saturday, the 19th of October, at San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest Avenue, Austin, Texas 78704. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
