Eddie Dale CARTWRIGHT Obituary
CARTWRIGHT, Eddie Dale

Eddie Dale Cartwright, 73 of Leander, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 15, 2014. The family will gather for a time of sharing and visitation on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown, Texas. A service of Celebration and Thanksgiving will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 10:30 am, at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel with Frank Matusek and Jay Humphreys officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, with the United States Air Force Honor Guard.

Eddie was born August 22, 1940, in Rubottom, Oklahoma to the late Walter Emmet and Beatrice Louise Eakins Cartwright. Eddie graduated from Velma-Alma High School in 1958. He honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. Eddie was stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin as a Missile Maintenance Technician; his main duty was work on the Hound Dog Missile for the B52 Bombers. During this time, Eddie met the love of his life, Barbara Carol Stark-Kellam. They were married March 6, 1964. A weldor by trade, Eddie first went to work for Halliburton in 1957. He was a member of Iron Worker's Local #482 and helped build most of the buildings on the University of Texas Campus completed between the mid 1960's and 1980, when he opened his own company, Cartwright's Welding. Barbara and Eddie were very proud of the fact that they were both decedents of Austin's Old 300. Eddie and Barbara were long time members of the First Baptist Church Leander, where Eddie was ordained as a Deacon on June 26, 2005. Most recently he and Barbara were active and supportive members of the Chisholm Trail Cowboy Church in Weir, where he served as an Elder. Eddie raised his children to love the Lord and put service before self. His strength and humor will be truly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Beatrice Cartwright; his sister, Gaylan Jean Kilgore; his father-in-law, Solon Ross Kellam; and Barbara's father, Cody Harris Mears Stark.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara; his son, Kerry Dale Cartwright and wife Kelly of Hutto, and daughter, Candace Ann Cartwright-Wesson and husband Paul Wesson of Leander; his siblings, Gayle Henson of Leander, Rita Ingram and husband Keith of Great Bend, KS, Don Cartwright of Velma, OK, Lola Bartling and husband Jerry of Velma, OK, Diana Bass and husband Jim of Dripping Springs, and Dean Cartwright and wife Debbie of Elgin; his grandchildren, Joseph Dale Cartwright, George Walker Wesson, Jeremy Shoemake, Christopher Norton, and Tina Marie Norton and; his mother-in-law, Nova E. Kellam of Austin; his brother-in-law, Anthony C. Kellam and wife Linda of Pflugerville; and aunts, Wanda Chapman and Christine Williams, along with a host of other loving family and friends.
