WEBB, Florence Dutton|
On May 12, 2014, our beautiful mother, Florence Dutton Webb, 90, departed this earthly life in Cuero after a short illness. Even though we grieve, our hearts are full of joy knowing she is reunited in Heaven with her loving husband and our Heavenly Father.
Florence Dutton Webb was born August 18, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA, to Beulah Janney Dutton and Thomas D. Dutton. She grew up in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Washington D.C. After graduating from Haverford High School in Philadelphia, PA, she attended Guilford College in Greensboro, NC for two years. While there she met the love of her life, Joseph C. Webb, Jr. They married on February 10, 1945 and were happily married for 62 years.
During Joe's career as a special agent with the FBI, they lived in Washington D.C., North Platte, NE, San Antonio, and Kerrville. Following his retirement from the FBI they moved to Austin where Joe headed up the University of Texas System police academy. In later years, they moved to Ruidoso, NM and finally to Cuero.
Wherever they lived, they made many wonderful friends. Flo was an avid bridge player and belonged to many clubs. In her words she was an "accomplished party giver" loving to entertain with her husband. Flo belonged to The Religious Society of Friends in PA, First Presbyterian Church of Kerrville, and First United Methodist Church of Cuero. She and Joe loved to travel throughout the country and abroad. She loved her family and friends to the fullest, and lived a long and happy life to the very end. Flo was deeply loved by all who knew her, and will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her children, Ann Gordon and husband, Ken, of Depew, NY, Debby Bowen and husband, J.D., of Cuero, and Thomas Webb and wife, Silvia, of Laredo. She is also survived by grandchildren, Sarah Gordon Haurik and husband, Joe, Rebekah Gordon Faatz, and husband, Jeff, Cynthia Bowen von Gluck, and husband, Alex, Courtney Bowen, Thomas Webb II, Erika Gonzales Zavala and husband Rey, Shelley Bowen Cook and her companion, Blaine Davis, Laura Bowen Lundin and husband, Kyle, and Michael Bowen and wife, Margot; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her nephew and niece, John and Robin Dutton, and their spouses and families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Thomas D. Dutton, Jr.; and her husband, Joe.
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 211 N. Clinton St., Cuero, on May 31st at 1 pm.
