Genevieve Elnada Mathilda Nelson BERGLUND

1924 - 2014 | Obituary Condolences
BERGLUND, Genevieve Elnada Mathilda Nelson

" A rose has bloomed in heaven."

Genevieve Berglund, 89, of Marble Falls, Tx, passed away on July 18 , 2014. She was born on October 30, 1924, in her family home in the Carlson community near New Sweden, Tx, to Victor and Ellen Nelson. She attended Carlson Country School, Manor High and graduated from Elgin High School. She received an AA degree from Texas Lutheran College and a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Texas. She enjoyed over 20 years of teaching -- from a two-room schoolhouse at Carlson to elementary grades in Tyler, Lindsborg, and Seguin. She retired from C.D. Fulkes Middle School in Round Rock. "She has raised children, loved children, guided children -- thousands of them, in fact..."

As a pastor's wife married to Oliver Martin Berglund (dec. 2003) for over 50 years, Genevieve's life has been centered around family, church, and friends.

One of the most important parts of her life was her family. She was especially fond of her Swedish heritage, roses, babies, dolls, and enjoyed sunsets at the lake. Genevieve and Oliver enjoyed hosting family gatherings at their "party house."

Gen is survived by her six children: Cheryl Heintze and husband Michael, Bonnie Mikels and David Payton, Susan Nye and husband Larry, Paul Berglund and wife Rose, Valerie Warwick and Craig Scofield, and Mark Berglund. Her eight grandchildren are Chad Mikels, Stacey Nash, Chris Heintze, Brandy Warwick, Bonnie Warwick, Craig Heintze, Charlotte Warwick and Adam Berglund. Her 7 great grandchildren are Isabelle, Leah, and Owen Nash; Ethan and Lillian McBeath; and Austin and Noah Heintze.

Services will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at New Sweden Evangelical Lutheran Church. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Memorials in Genevieve's honor may be given to New Sweden Lutheran Church.

Words of comfort to the family may be left via the online guest book at www.beckchapels.com
