Gwen SCOTT Obituary
SCOTT, Gwen

Gwen Scott, age 85, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2013 at her home in Austin surrounded by her beloved family.

Gwen was born in Brownwood, TX and was raised in Cameron, TX. She attended the University of Texas in Austin. In her early years she worked at the Pentagon and was accepted into Diplomatic Service in the 1950's. She also lived and worked in Dallas, TX for Temco Manufacturing. She met her best friend and soul mate Bill in Temple, TX in 1955. They soon married in 1957 and had two children.

After moving to Austin, she started her own transcription and typing business and continued to do this into her 70's. She was a founding member and the first president of the Assistance Guild of Austin, which is now the Assistance League of Austin. At the same time, she was president of the Evelyn Wright's Women's Association and active church member at the First Presbyterian Church. She loved to read, take long walks on the beach, and spend time with family and friends. She was inducted to the William Barrett Travis Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas in 2009. She was a member of the Hand Bell Choir at the church and was active in tap dancing well into her 80's.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bill Scott, her daughter Stefani Price, her son Larry Scott, and her granddaughter, Gretchen Price.

Services will be held Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church on Mesa Drive. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in Gwen's name to the A.L.S. Association at www.alsa.org.
