Jean Treveiler Welter Obituary
Jean Treveiler Welter Jean Treveiler Welter, beloved mother and grandmother, peacefully passed into the loving arms of our Lord on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Born December 15, 1922, in Dubuque, Iowa, Jean spent her early years in Chicago, Illinois. Graduating from New Trier High School, Jean went to college at Northwestern University and Centre College in Kentucky. After college, Jean successfully pursued a career in Journalism in Chicago for several years before marrying Hugh Jacob Welter in 1953. Jean and Hugh led an active and rich life together, living in places mundane and exotic, from Wisconsin to Hawaii and many destinations in between before settling in Austin in 2002. Together they criss-crossed the United States and circled the globe. A strong and faithful Christian woman, Jean was very active in the Episcopal Church, and was a key contributor to the committee resulting in the 1979 revision of the Book of Common Prayer. Jean's life can be best summed up in a paraphrase of 2 Timothy: She fought the good fight; She stayed the course; She kept the faith. Vade cum deus, Jean. Jean is survived by her three daughters and son: M. Alison Welter Hull; Karen Welter McBrien; Annie Welter Brandt; H. Jacques Welter; six grandchildren: Nathan Hull; Rachel Hull; Audrey Welter; Matthew Welter; Mark Welter; and Michelle McBrien. There will be no funeral service; A memorial service will be held at a later date.
