John Henry Kieke, 83, was called home to his Lord and Savior early Wednesday morning, January 1, 2014 from complications following surgery to remove his kidney due to cancer. He was born August 12, 1930 in Creedmore, Texas.
He was predeceased by his parents Otto & Stella Kieke, sister Julienne, and brother, Harold Wayne.
He is survived by his loving wife Vernile Reinhardt Kieke of 64 years; daughters Jeanne Cunningham (Coleman) & JoAnn Dunlap (Ken). He is also survived by grandsons Matt Bisson (Lori), John Bisson (Angela), Jeramiah Dunlap (Amanda) and Denver Dunlap (Lori); and great grandchildren Will and Sam Bisson, Emily and Jack Bisson, and Luke, Cole and Kelly Dunlap.
John Henry was an honest, generous, hard-working Christian man who was dedicated to and dearly loved by his family and friends. He was a devoted, caring, nurturing and fun-loving provider, Husband, Daddy and Grandpa. There was no other like him! He never met a stranger, never forgot a face and was a friend to many.
John Henry was a veteran Austin Fire Fighter and retired with 28 years of dedicated service.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 3, 2014, at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, Texas.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 4, 2014, Harrell Funeral Home, Austin, Texas with Pastor Steve Fick Officiating. Interment will follow at Onion Creek Memorial Park, Austin, Texas.
A reception will follow the interment at Redeeming Grace Lutheran Church.
