John Kenneth "Ken" Burgess August 15, 1931 - October 21, 2012 Ken was born August 15, 1931 to Lester and Aline Burgess in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Hot Wells High School and Southwest Texas State University with a degree in Secondary Education. He served his country as a Master Chief in the United States Navy for over 20 years. During his tour of duty, he commissioned the U.S.S. Kamehameha, and served on the Baya, Grant, Missouri and others prior to retirement and returning to Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Janet, and his parents. He is survived by a brother, Billy Burgess and family of Wills Point, Texas. He has five children: Daughter Robin Lindsay and husband Tom of Wimberley, son Buddy Burgess of Houston, Texas, son Shawn Burgess and wife Karen of Dallas, Texas, daughter Kelly Gomez and husband Valentine of Leander, Texas, and daughter Tara Patton and husband Allen of Montalba, Texas. His grandchildren are Dawn Marshall, Chris Burgess, Marie Burgess, Megan Gomez, Brenner Burgess, KAB Burgess, Dusty Patton, Ryan Patton, Emily Patton, and numerous great-grandchildren. Ken loved his family and his pets, followed closely by football. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff, Jennifer, John, Patricia, Dorie, Nadine, Kelly, Ada, Mandy and Danielle(and any other's that have been omitted) at The House on Cedar Ridge Alzheimer Facility, Leander, Texas for the tremendous care of our father. Memorial Services will be held at a later date at the home of Peggy and Richard Nance of Myrtle, MS.
