Louis Henry Breitschopf passed away peacefully on November 19, 2013, in Austin, Texas. He was 89 years old. Louis was born on December 15, 1923, in Harwood, Texas to Selma and Leo Breitschopf. A decorated veteran, Louis entered the Army Air Corps in 1945 and served as a bombardier during World War II. He retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years of service having earned membership in the exclusive Caterpillar Club.
He worked another 25 years traveling the world, providing logistical electronics training on DC-9 and DC-10 aircraft for the McDonnell Douglas Corporation until his retirement in 1992. Louis made over 70 business trips to 20 different countries on four continents during his career with McDonnell Douglas. In retirement, he enjoyed completing a crossword puzzle, playing bridge and pinochle, telling a good joke, and spoiling his Westie, Murphy. He was proud of his family, his dedicated service to his country, and his lifetime membership with the Arthur Murray Dance Studio.
Louis is preceded in death by his parents and both of his siblings, Alma Eleanor Ehrig and Ernest Lee Bright. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy Puente Breitschopf; his daughter Maria Theresa Breitschopf and son-in-law Kevin Scott Gillion; grandson Rafael Ignatius Gillion; and nieces and nephews in the United States and Ecuador.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at one o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 23rd of November, at St. Theresa Catholic Church. A private burial will immediately follow the mass.
