Louis Reed (Pete) Roberts Pete Roberts left this earth on Dec. 7, 2012. He was born in Wray, Colorado on July 8, 1923 to Donna and Roscoe Roberts and grew up in eastern Colorado on a farm located a few miles from the Kansas/Nebraska/Colorado border. He attended the Univ. of Colorado briefly before joining the Marine Corps during World War II. He served in the Pacific and in China. After the war Pete returned to the University of Colorado where he met and married his wife, Sue Baskin Roberts, in June of 1948. Following graduation from the Univ. of Colorado, he attended Rice Institute where he received a Master's Degree in Chemistry. He began his career with the Gulf Oil Corp. in Port Arthur, Texas. In 1958 Pete entered The University of Texas where he earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. He worked for Allied Chemical Corp. in Texas, New Jersey, and New York before returning to Texas to work for the Texas Air Control Board. During his professional career he was an active member and Fellow in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Pete loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, and enjoyed traveling and playing golf and bridge. He was a life-long Presbyterian and an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Pete is survived by his wife, Sue; their three children, son Cliff and wife Renee, daughter Jane Goss and husband Bill, and daughter Connie Krahn; and grandchildren, Nathan, Louis, Sarah, and Haley. A memorial service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3003 Northland Drive, Austin, Texas 78757 at 2:00 p.m. on Dec. 13, 2012.
