On August 5, 2014 heaven received another angel. Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Lucas G. Carrillo was called home. He was born on October 18, 1927 in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico to Antero and Julia Carrillo.
Lucas graduated from Austin High in 1946, and later attended the University of Texas at Austin. In the 1940s he was drafted into the US Army Air Corps and served our country in World War II. Lucas worked as a grocer for 50 years and for the State of Texas for 15 years before retiring. He spent his days of retirement using his green thumb, building his garden, bird watching, barbecuing turkeys, cooking hearty meals and making his famous secret sauces.
He was an active member of the San Jose Catholic Church and his favorite Commandment was "love thy neighbor". He often said "I loved my neighbor so much I married her" since he fell in love with and married his neighbor Carmen. His loving, generous, kind and comedic personality will surely be missed, but never forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Estefania (Stevie); and sons, Hector and Jaime.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen; his children, Mario, Yolanda, Carla, Rolando, Ana and her husband, Jay; his sister, Andrea; and his 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM on Monday, August 11, 2014, at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, Texas.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest Ave, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Austin, Texas.
