Michele Colaluca Obituary
Michele Mark "Buck" Colaluca December 8, 1957 March 22, 2013 "Buck", as he was affectionately known since early childhood, left this earth unexpectedly on March 22, 2013. Born in Massachusetts, he also lived in in Arkansas, Montana, Arizona, and finally settled in Austin, TX in 1972, when his father retired from the Air Force. As a youngster he was involved in Boy Scouts and Little League baseball. Along with his younger brother Rick, his cousins Philip and Joey, and best friends Jackie and Rusty, he was always getting into some sort of mischief. Buck was always the life of the party, always had a good joke, and got along with everyone he met. Buck excelled in academics throughout his entire life. He won many awards, recognitions, and accolades in school. He graduated from Crockett High School in 1976. He attended Southwest Texas State University where he was a charter member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He received his Bachelors of Business Administration with Honors from The University of Texas-Austin in 1981. He went on to receive a Master's Degree in Public Administration from SWTSU in 1987. He worked for the Veteran's Administration in Austin for several years. Long-term effects stemming from 2 head injuries sustained in the early 80's forced him into early retirement at age 35. On September 7, 1985 he married the love of his life, Valerie Kirksey. Her job took them to northern Kentucky in 1992, where they lived at the time of his death. Buck and Valerie loved animals, especially their cats. They worked with various rescues and were always taking in strays. Oreo and Shadow will miss their "daddy" very much. Buck was preceded in death by his father, Michele A. Colaluca and his mother-in-law Betty Kirksey. He is survived by his wife Valerie, his mother Josephine Colaluca, father-in-law Vance Kirksey, sister Lisa Littrell, brother Rick Colaluca, two nephews, one niece, two great-nephews, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 1st at 11a.m., at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail. Following the service, friends and family will be gathering at Serrano's, one of his favorite restaurants, to "party", just as he wished. All are welcome to attend. Private interment will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations to the ASPCA, or to a local animal rescue or sanctuary are requested.
