ISBELL, Mozelle Reid

Mozelle Reid Isbell, a resident of Austin, Texas for 71 years, died on December 12, 2013 at the age of 99.

She was born in Commerce, Texas, on April 11, 1914 to Virgil and Lela Bryant Reid. The family moved to Sherman, Texas when she was 5 years old and Mozelle graduated from Sherman High School in 1930.

Mozelle married Keener Reagan Isbell, Jr. on June 24, 1934, in Sherman, Texas. In September of 1940, together with their son, Kenneth, they moved to Austin, Texas, where her husband taught school and was an elementary school principal for 37 years. During that time, Mozelle was employed with the Austin I.S.D. for 16 years, having served at Fulmore Jr. High and Reagan High Schools. She and her husband both retired in June, 1977.

Mozelle was a charter member of Asbury United Methodist Church since 1949, and also a member of Austin Retired Teachers Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keener R. Isbell; brothers, R.B. Reid, Bo Reid, and Virgil Reid; and sisters, LaVelle Cain, and Audrey Moughon.

Mozelle is survived by her son, Kenneth R. Isbell and wife Gracie of Victoria, Texas; son, Robert R. Isbell and wife Vivian of Corsicana, Texas; daughter, Linda Kay Alvis of Corsicana, Texas; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2013 in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks in Pflugerville, Texas. Serving as pallbearers are Scott Isbell, Barry Isbell, John Alvis, Steve Isbell, Jack Butler, Ricky Veretto, Alan Mayer, and Todd Rash.
