Patricia Francis Hodges died Friday, January 3, 2014, after a brief illness. Patricia was born on May 23, 1923 in Austin, Texas to John and Lillian Francis. She was married on March 13, 1942 to her high school sweetheart, Claudius B. Hodges, to whom she was married for 41 years, before he passed away in 1984.
Patricia graduated from Austin High School in 1940 and attended the University of Texas. She married her husband shortly after Pearl Harbor, while he was home on leave after joining the Army Air Corps. After her husband returned from World War II, they lived on Air Force bases as close as Waco, Texas and as far away as Hawaii and Morocco. After her husband retired from the Air Force, they moved back to live in Austin, Texas and Gonzales, Texas. Her last eight years were spent in McKinney, Texas to be near her son, Will, Daughter-in-law, Jan and grandson, Jake. Patricia was a devoted wife and mother who balanced the three men in her home with a woman's grace and charm. She was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church in Austin, and volunteered in the church thrift store. Patricia loved to travel, read, garden and exercise.
She is survived by her son, William E. Hodges and his wife Jan M. Hodges of McKinney, Texas; grandson, Jacob T. Hodges and his wife Mary J. Hodges of Plano, Texas; step-brother, Paul Wakefield of Westlake, Texas; nephew, Albert LaLonde Jr. and his wife Toni LaLonde of Buda, Texas; nephew William McMinn and his wife Marie McMinn of Colorado Springs, Colorado; nieces, Mary Ogden of Houston, Texas, Nancy Beasley and husband Stephen Beasley of Houston, Texas and niece and namesake, Patricia McMinn of Brookshire, Texas; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lillian Francis; husband, Claudius Hodges; her eldest son, John F. Hodges; sisters, Katherine Adams and husband Chuck, JoAnn Ballentin and husband Bunk, Nancy McMinn and her husband Bill.
A memorial service will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 10:45 a.m., Monday, January 13, 2014, where she will be buried with her husband.
