Paul Kay Obituary
Paul Kay Paul Kay, resident of Dripping Springs, Texas, died at home on August 27, 2013, at the age of 86. Born in West Allis, Wisconsin, he lived in Chicago and West Allis during his childhood. He joined the Navy and piloted a Higgins boat in the Normandy invasion on D-Day. After the Navy, he worked in various jobs, including a cattle drive and working on the railroad, until he discovered computer programming and analysis. Then he moved his family to Austin and worked at the Veterans Administration Data Processing Center and at Texas DPS Data Processing Center. He was active as a volunteer in Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts. As a transplant to Texas, he loved his horses, cows, and dogs. He is survived by his wife, Jewel Schulz Kay; sons, Gary and Kathy Kay and Timothy and Helen Kay; daughter Linda and Kenneth Schulz; grandchildren Steven and Lissa Schulz, Denise Schulz, David and Betsy Schulz, and Cicely Kay; great-grandchildren Emily, Nathan, Elijah, Griffin, and Jack Schulz. He was preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Elaine Kay, and by a special aunt, Ottilia (Aunt Babe) Ziemann. Public visitation will be at the Harrell Funeral Home, 100 Heritage Drive and Highway 290-W near Dripping Springs on Thursday, August 29, from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 30, 2013, at the Dripping Springs Presbyterian Church, 100 South Canyonwood Drive, Dripping Springs, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday in the Cedar Cemetery, La Grange, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dripping Springs Presbyterian Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 1185, Dripping Springs, TX 78620 or to Hospice Austin, 4107 Spicewood Springs Road, Suite 100, Austin, Texas, 78759.
