Obituary Condolences

Phillip Wayne (Phil) Roberts Sr. Obituary
Phillip (Phil) Wayne Roberts, Sr. Phillip (Phil) Wayne Roberts, Sr., 74, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Seton Medical Center - Williamson County. Phil was born November 17, 1938 to Ernest Miller (E.M.) and Emma (Allen) Roberts in Irvine, Kentucky and was one of seven children. Phil grew up in Irvine, Kentucky and enlisted in the Air Force, where he served from 1956 through 1961. He was stationed in various locations, including Japan, before finishing his service in Manchester, New Hampshire, where he met his wife, Yvette Mailloux Roberts. They were married on December 30, 1961 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last December. Phil began a 33 year career at IBM in 1962 and transferred from Lexington, Kentucky to Austin, Texas in 1967 to help open the new Austin manufacturing location. He was a proud graduate of St. Edwards University and graduated Cum Laude with a BBA in Finance. Phil retired from IBM in 1995 and remained a resident of Austin until his passing. More recently, he enjoyed working part time at Covert Ford with many dear friends. Phil also enjoyed numerous hobbies and interests over the years, including photography, woodworking, automobiles, genealogy, reading and politics. He passionately followed his Kentucky Wildcat Basketball team, Texas A&M University, Cincinnati Reds and Dallas Cowboys. More than anything, Phil enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed his four grandchildren and delighted in their many accomplishments. He relished every moment with them and they adored him in return. Phil is survived by his wife Yvette; son, Phillip Wayne Roberts, Jr. and daughter in law, Shannon Lia Roberts, grandson, Jack Ryan Roberts and granddaughter, Katy Brooke Roberts, all of Alamo Heights, Texas; daughter, Michelle Roberts Schepcoff and granddaughters, Jacqueline Nicole Schepcoff and Natalie Rene Schepcoff, all of Houston, Texas; and son, Michael Richard Roberts of Austin, Texas. Phil is also survived by his sister and brother in law, Edith and Wayne Bateman of Dallas, Texas; sister Lillian Oaks of Miamisburg, Ohio; brother William Roberts of Jeffersonville, Indiana; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and a vast network of extended family and friends. Phil is preceded in death by his parents E.M. and Emma Roberts; brothers Morgan and Ronald Roberts; and sister Georgeanne Roberts. He was especially proud of his two brothers, Morgan and Ronald, for their service in World War II. Morgan and Ronald were killed in action three days apart in two different hemispheres; Morgan liberating prison camps the day General Douglas MacArthur returned to the Philippines and Ronald in the Atlantic Ocean aboard the USS Henry B. Plant when it was sunk by a German U-boat. Phil often told their stories with pride and worked diligently to ensure their ultimate sacrifice was remembered and honored. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. Visitation will occur from 2:00 - 4:00 pm, with a memorial ceremony to follow at 4 pm.
