BROWN, Raymond Lewis "Ray"|
Raymond Lewis (Ray) Brown, age 82, of Austin, TX passed away on May 21, 2014. He was born in Denver, CO to George T. and Mary Ann Brown on March 10, 1932 and graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1951.
In 1956, after serving in the Korean War, he entered the School of Architecture at the University of Texas. He studied design with Werner Seligmann, an adamant proponent of the flourishing modern architecture movement. This association would shape Ray's distinctive home designs in Austin and the surrounding Hill County for the next 60 years.
Ray is survived by his wife Ann Brown of Austin and their son Addison Mayfield of San Francisco, his sisters Lou Ann Gill, and Grace Honegger, and his brother Grady Brown, all residing in the Dallas area, plus numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Jean Brewer of Dallas.
His family and his many friends were very important to Ray, and he will be deeply missed by all. A tribute honoring him is scheduled for mid July.
