Richard Neal "Dick" Elliott died Wednesday April 30, 2014 at the age of 85. He was born on June 27, 1928 in Florence, TX. the 5th of 6 children born to Willie Atkinson & Hiram Neal Elliott. He moved to Austin with his family at age 2.
Dick attended Austin schools and graduated from the University of Texas; majoring in Business and Accounting. He married Barbara Sawyer of Austin. He worked for U.T. for many years in the Bursars Office, Personnel Office and Development Board. He later became General Manager of many Dry Cleaning businesses.
Dick and Barbara retired to Buchanan Dam and enjoyed traveling in their motorhome as long as they were able. They also enjoyed spending the summers in New Mexico, where they had many friends. Dick served as an Elder, Chairman of the Board and Trustee for several churches and is presently a member of The Worship Place in Sun City in Georgetown. Dick was kind, gentle and generous man, husband, father, grandfather and friend, who found good in everyone.
Dick is survived by his wife of 62 years Barbara (Sawyer) grandson Joshua Neal Elliott of Round Rock, TX , Josh's mother Holly Elliott, one sister Mary Anne Nobles of Kirbyville, TX. He is preceded in death by both parents, three brothers: Bill, Jack and Hiram, one sister, Maurine Spaw, and his son Rick Elliott.
Graveside services will be conducted at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Drive by Dr. Vernon Davis at 10:00 AM on Monday May 5th, 2014.
